Welcome to Bisley Blue Coat CofE Primary School

As Interim Executive Headteacher, it is my absolute privilege to welcome you to Bisley Blue Coat Church of England Primary School, a truly special place nestled within the beautiful Stroud district of the Cotswolds.

At Bisley, our Christian vision of ‘Love, Learn, Live as One’  and Christian values of community, love, respect and trust are deeply embedded in daily life and guide everything we do. Love sits at the heart of our small school, reflecting Jesus' command to ‘love one another’. We pride ourselves on providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every child's emotional, pastoral and spiritual needs are met with care, compassion and understanding. Respect shapes our relationships, ensuring that every child is valued, celebrated and included, while trust underpins the strong partnerships we build with families, staff and the wider community.

What makes Bisley truly unique, however, is our remarkable sense of community. We are proud of the small, close-knit village school we are, where relationships are built on kindness, mutual respect and a shared commitment to helping every child flourish. Strong links between pupils, families, staff, our parish and the wider village are woven into the fabric of our school, enabling us to truly live as one.

This spirit of togetherness is strengthened by our rich history, which dates back to 1732, making Bisley one of the oldest schools in Gloucestershire. Originally founded as a Blue Coat school, with children proudly wearing their traditional blue uniforms, we became a church school in 1863 under the guidance of Rev. Thomas Keble. His legacy of faith, service and commitment to education continues to inspire our work today.

This year sees Bisley Blue Coat continue its exciting interim partnership with the Heartwood Federation. As Executive Headteacher of Heartwood Federation, I am proud to support this collaboration, which places children firmly at the heart of all we do. Heartwood's vision aligns closely with Bisley's - both rooted in love, respect and a commitment to lifelong learning.

I warmly invite you to explore our website to discover more about our wonderful school. Whether you are a current family, a prospective parent or simply a friend of Bisley, thank you for taking the time to learn more about our thriving, historic and deeply caring Christian community.

Mrs Sarah Broadbent BEd, NASENCo, NPQEL
